                                                 A Street Quarrel

It was a summer evening. I was studying. All of a sudden, I heard a noise in the street. I came out of the house and found that two men were quarrelling. A shopkeeper was abusing a man for having broken his looking glass. The man took it ill and paid him back in his own coin. From hot words they soon came to blows. The shopkeeper was going to throw him down when some of the persons intervened. They asked them the reasonforthequarrel. The man said "I came to buy a looking glass. While he was showing it to one it fell down and broke. Thereupon he began to abuse me." The shopkeeper disagreed with him. The people who had gathered there decided that both of them should bear the loss equally. In this way the quarrel was settled.
