A woodcutter

                        A woodcutter

Once a woodcutter was cutting down a tree. The tree was on the bank of a river. When he hit the tree with his axe, the axe slipped out of his hand and fell into the river. He began to weep because he was too poor to buy a new one. A water fairy appeared from the river with a golden axe.

She offered him the axe. The woodcutter refused to take it. He said, "It is not mine," The waterfairy dived into the water and brought a silver axe.

The woodcutter aguin rufused to take it. He said, "It isnot mine. The waterfairy dived into the river for the third time. This time she brought an iron axe. The woodcutter accepted it very gladly. The waterfairy was very pleased with his honesty and gave him the other live axes as a reward.

 Moral lesson:

                               Honesty is the best policy.
